There is nothing more heartbreaking than the loss of a child for a family. As a bereavement support team member, you do all you can to be there for families during this time. When you gather comforting mementos like hand-knit blankets, stuffed animals, tokens, and the like, it is a wonderful gesture. But nothing can replace something that is personal and from their baby. Something the family can hold on to forever.
Making a ClayLinks mold of a baby’s hand or foot gives parents an archival-quality keepsake that they can touch, feel, hold on to and even carry with them. It captures unmatched details and will not crack, curl, or breakdown over time unlike air dry clays. Furthermore, it is not delicate like plaster molds and can be made as a concave or convex impression.
Premature Losses
Sometimes with premature births and other special cases, it is not possible to get a deep or detailed impression of a hand or foot in clay. During situations like these, our Ink Pads for Preemie Prints can be used with our ClayLinks Clay to get a defined impression.
We’ve selected this particular ink because it is non-toxic and child-safe. It is also acid-free and washes off skin well in most cases. In our experiments, the ink works well with our particular formula of clay and is even smudge-proof and water-resistant after it has dried completely and is baked.
This ink is available in blue and pink if gender denotation is desired or black, purple, and green for gender-neutral options.
